🌿 Makers & Motherhood: Where Creativity Meets Chaos
Hey there, I’m Alexandra — the hands, heart, and sometimes sleep-deprived mind behind Little Blue Fern. I’m a mama of three, a lifelong creative, and the founder of a small Canadian brand built from equal parts passion, curiosity, and chaos.
We began our journey in 2020 when I was searching for baby products that were both aesthetically pleasing and a cleaner alternative to plastics, something that fit our modern-day lifestyle without compromise. What started as a personal mission quickly grew into a brand centered on quality, safety, and thoughtful design.
Our passion for creating and curating safe, beautiful products for families is always at the top of our priority list. We’re constantly dreaming, refining, and developing our lineup. Every handcrafted item is made by me in Woodstock, Ontario, with the same care and intention I’d want for my own children.
From Luxury to Local
Before Little Blue Fern came to life, I worked in the fast-paced world of luxury retail as a Client Development and Event Specialist with Louis Vuitton Canada. My role was to drive the business behind the scenes, collaborating with teams across the country to connect with clients, strengthen relationships, and create unforgettable brand experiences.
That chapter gave me a deep appreciation for storytelling, exceptional customer service, and the power of building a brand rooted in emotion. It taught me that every interaction is an opportunity to make someone feel seen — a lesson I carry into every part of Little Blue Fern.
Later, I transitioned into marketing within the local hospitality industry in Kitchener-Waterloo, where I designed creative campaigns that reached new and emerging customers. Marketing, to me, feels like a game: part strategy, part intuition, and part creativity. I love competing against my past results and seeing what can happen when a story really connects with people.
When motherhood entered the picture, everything shifted. We began with our signature pacifier clips and teethers, proudly among the first in Canada to hand-stamp personalized pacifier clips (and yes, we’ve had a few imitators along the way). Over time, our collection grew to include silicone dishware and, most recently, maple wood teethers — each one designed with intention and made to last.
What started as late-night projects during nap times became Little Blue Fern, a brand that now reaches families across Canada and appears at markets and shows I once dreamed of attending.
Building Community
Small businesses thrive in community, and that’s become one of my biggest passions. Today, I’m proud to serve as the London Director for the Womb to Walking Baby Show, a space where parents and makers come together to connect, discover, and celebrate Canadian-made products.
I’m also the co-organizer of the Sugarplums & Stockings Holiday Market in Cambridge, an event that brings together incredible local artisans and holiday magic under one roof. You can visit littlebluefern.com/holiday to meet our makers and learn more.
These markets aren’t just events; they’re proof that when small businesses come together, amazing things happen.
